Blood Stained Tool was a band from Carbondale, Illinois who I was introduced to at the Lost Cross House back in 1986.  They were one of the bands who helped my transition from seeing large punk rock shows at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California to learning that shows in basements are much more fun!

BST broke up after Chris Rad graduated from SIU a year later but they came back to the Lost Cross (with Mikey Snot and Taz filling in on vocals and drums) 24 years later to help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Lost Cross House.  As I write this we're a year away from the 30th Anniversary show, this time we're hoping Steve Sickness will make it (because truthfully he's much better at signing these songs than Mikey Snot).

OK, we're going to jump ahead to 1991's Swimming Pool Full Of Dead People.  At this point P&S Productions had already become Thrasher's Digest (after the title of the fanzine I would occasionally release) and was now on to the name MSIG (after the current fanzine that I would occasionally release!). 

SPFODP was a noise band consisting of members of many different Carbondale bands and others who frequented the Lost Cross House and House-O-Voodew.  This tape was compiled in late 1991 by Mikey Snot and myself though the recordings go back to 1988.

This compilation was easily the most popular P&S Productions release.  With this release I started to make small sales to a few distributors besides the normal mail order that I did.  Systematic in San Francisco bought several hundred and I actually got paid right before they filed for bankruptcy and fucked over a lot of labels.  I remember feeling very lucky after talking with Bill Karras from Mystic Records / Sound of California and listening to him scream about how Systematic assured him that they were doing fine and the day after he shipped them a large quantity of records they filed for bankruptcy and how he wanted to kick all their asses.

Before I moved to Illinois I spent a majority of my time in 8th grade ditching school and hanging out / working at Mystic Records in Hollywood.  This compilation is made up of quite a few bands that I met during that time, including Government Issue, Ill Repute, Don't No, Scared Straight, etc.  This tape also led to a split tape with the Amateur Gynecologists (later just the A.G's) and Stukas Over Bedrock which would be the next release on P&S Productions.  "More...Hardcore!" was also the first time Danny... (Danny Breeden) from Las Vegas, Nevada did original artwork for P&S Productions.  I still love all his stuff, I should frame the originals of his that I own.

P&S Productions second release was a split with V.O.A. from Glendale, California and Butt Acne from East Los Angeles, California.  42 songs, including numerous versions of the classic "No" by Butt Acne.

For those bands out there who've had their releases reviewed by Jimmy Alvarado in Razorcake or Flipside now's your chance to hear what kind of music he was doing with Butt Acne back in the early 80's!

The zip file also includes PDF's of a CDR cover/tray because I'm sure you'll want to burn this to disc and crank it up while in your car.
