V.O.A. "Voice of Authority" / Butt Acne "Butt-Core"
P&S002
1985
P&S Productions second release was a split with V.O.A. from Glendale, California and Butt Acne from East Los Angeles, California. 42 songs, including numerous versions of the classic "No" by Butt Acne.
For those bands out there who've had their releases reviewed by Jimmy Alvarado in Razorcake or Flipside now's your chance to hear what kind of music he was doing with Butt Acne back in the early 80's!
The zip file also includes PDF's of a CDR cover/tray because I'm sure you'll want to burn this to disc and crank it up while in your car.

I still have this cassette!
ReplyDeleteVOA? I was the bassist and co-founder of this band. I don't if Mike is around? Who sells these tapes? Brian Hartley.
DeleteOk, VOA I played bass on 1-17 on the mp3 file. Who's "Butt Acne?" Did Mike the guitarist have something to do with this? After the 17th track who is this? Brian Hartley
DeleteHey Brian! This is Kevin Ellis, from Olmsted Dr. Whitney is my older sister. I was friends with Bartak, Matt Anderson, Carl Wendt, Blatherwick, Frye, etc. I played bass with Katherine's Horse for a few parties when Matt couldn't make it.
DeleteI remember when this tape came out. There was some story about how the guys from Butt Acne saw you at that Stardust Ballroom show, and spoke to you guys after to do this split. I had a copy around 1986 or so.
I'll always remember that Stardust show. So fun back then. -K
